District 5 priorities
My Values
Community. Hard work. Integrity.
These values guide every decision I make in my personal life, my work, and my commitment to serving District 5.
Our Shared Vision
People. Planet. Prosperity.
Strong communities are built when we care for one another, protect the places we call home, and create real opportunities for families to thrive now and for future generations.
Why I’m Running and Why Now
I care deeply about this community, and I consistently show up for it.
I’m a fixer and a helper.
When I see something that’s broken or could work better, I feel a responsibility to step in and help improve it.
I believe in leaving things better than I found them, whether that’s a neighborhood, a system, or a community challenge. That belief is what motivates me to show up, listen, and take action.
Right now, the world can feel overwhelming. Global issues are big, heavy, and often outside our immediate control. That’s exactly why I believe local government matters more than ever.
County government is where we can make real, tangible change, where policy decisions directly impact daily life. I choose to focus on what we can do, not what we can’t, and that’s why I am committed to practical, people-centered solutions at the County level.
District 5 Priorities
1. Support Working Families
Food and housing costs continue to rise, and too many families are working hard but still coming up short.
As your County Councilmember, I will:
-
Advocate at the County level for State policy changes that better support working families
-
Push to reduce regressive taxes that disproportionately impact low- and middle-income households
-
Support policies that strengthen food access, housing stability, and cost-of-living relief
-
Expand opportunities for recreation, connection, and community-building in our rural neighborhoods
Our families deserve systems that support them, not make life harder.
2. Strengthen Our Local Economy
A resilient economy starts right here, at home.
I support:
-
Innovative, community-based economic solutions that create new income opportunities
-
Community kitchens and shared spaces that help residents create value-added products, paired with marketing and business support
-
Food sovereignty and food security, especially empowering our rural Puna subdivisions to help feed themselves
-
Expand technology infrastructure and accessibility to support telehealth, remote work, and local entrepreneurs
A strong local economy keeps families rooted here and builds long-term stability for our district.
3. Infrastructure and Safety
Basic infrastructure is not a luxury. It is a safety issue.
I will continue to advocate for solutions that address the long-standing challenges in our substandard subdivisions, including:
-
Roads
-
Clean Water access
-
Solid Waste
-
Public transportation
I also believe we must improve how County departments work together. That includes:
-
Reducing silos between departments to improve efficiency and communication
-
-
Encouraging collaboration between Planning and Public Works to reduce permitting delays and completing public projects
-
-
Improving coordination between HPD and Animal Control to enhance both public safety and animal welfare
When systems communicate better, people are safer, and services work the way they should.
A Commitment to You
I believe leadership starts with listening.
Your concerns, ideas, and lived experiences matter, and they will shape my work on the County Council. Together, we can build a District 5 that is safer, more resilient, and more connected.
